ONTD

Smile
Okay, so I have decided to become a bit more active on ONTD, and update on the things that I know about, if they haven't been mentioned before.

But I think most of it will be about Latino Celebrities. I don't really see many things about them covered, and well, I am sure that there are many that would probably like to know about them. So, when I found out stuff, I will post there.

To see what I have posted there, I will be adding all of them to my "memories" on LJ. I, currently, only have 2, but that will be growing soon. ^.^

For those, unable to find the memories link: Memories

ONTD Costume Contest comments...

  • Nov. 4th, 2007 at 9:16 PM
Crazy
As you all know, I had decided to dress up as Ugly Betty for Halloween.  Along with this, my great friend, Loni, convinced me to enter the ONTD Celebrity look-alike contest.  After a few days of convincing, I gave in and entered.  I really didn't expect to get into the top ten...which I didn't but that isn't relevant.

After ONTD released their top ten...I browsed, not really bothered about not getting into the top ten, however, I wanted to see what people thought about my costume (if anyone bothered to comment on it).  I found my entry and there were numerous messages from people saying how much they liked my costumes, and how I should have made the top list.  There were also numerous, LOL, LMAOs in there as well, and I took that as a good sign, since I really only dressed up as Ugly Betty to amuse people.   With that being said, I truly feel like a winner!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my costume!  I truly am touched! <3

Halloween Fun...

  • Oct. 29th, 2007 at 10:47 PM
Crazy
This past weekend was nothing short of crazy!  There was a party arranged by some friends for Friday night, which was costume-optional.  Of course, me being the awesome over-zealous person that I am, I DID dress up.  What was my costume, may you ask?  Well, what would any self respecting Latina dress up as that isn't slutty, but yet says, 'I'm sophisticated" and funny at the same?  UGLY BETTY, of course.  Betty Suarez has flare and speaks her mind in a calm and civil way...very much, like myself.

Friday Night:  I arrived early to my friends to help out another friend with her costume.  This help consisted of helping her glue on fake nails so that she could look more like Blair Waldorf, from Gossip Girl.  It was a very cute outfit and she fit the part...minus the not having brown hair, but she totally rocked it out.  Anyway, we made a few short runs before the party actually got underway to get some last minute things.  Everyone usually do this, because someone forgets one thing or another.  Once we returned, and the party got under way, I began to drink my Sangria wine, straight from the bottle.  Not long after, people began to arrive and as luck would have it, people wanted someone to take them to get some drinks, aka alcohol, booze (take your pick).  I offered to buy it, but told them that someone would need to drive my vehicle, because I had already had some alcohol.  Anyway, we got back and partied it up, with drinking games and drunken Halloween Twister.  It was a crazy night of fun, but once I had to be responsible, I became sober rather quick.  Other than that, drinking with friends is always the best way to go.

Saturday Night:  Video Game Club Meeting = Playing video games from 7pm (Sat. night) till 7am (Sun. morn).  Yes, I am a "gamer."  I also happen to be Vice-President.  Isn't that just awesome?  Sylvia gets to have some power over stuff.  {insert maniac laugh here}  Anyway, we held a costume contest, I came in third, which I think is awesome.  Also, we raided a gas station store in costume.  Even before we entered we were getting looks from the employees.  Truly a spectacular event.  Anyway, I ended up staying till about 5:20am and felt homesick.  So, what did I do?  I drove the 30 minutes to my actual home and spent Sunday there.  It was nice to be in a familiar place, since I have been staying at my friends place for like a week.

Anyway, what is the moral of the story?  When life gives you lemons...you squirt someone in the eye.  DUH!  Just kidding...that isn't the moral, just a wise suggestion.  Ha ha ha.  You can never go wrong with a party, as long as you are smart.  So, if you are partying on Halloween night, don't be dumb.  Go out with friends, and don't overdue it on drinks or go home with a sleazy guy.  You don't want to regret anything later in life.  So...PARTY IT UP!

XoXo

Gossip
So, B and I have totally gotten into the "new" show "Gossip Girl."  Even though B and I are not upper class teenagers, who live in New York, the show is just FABULOUS!

The plot has about 4-6 main characters:
Serena (S) - Who left for an extended period of time due to her own foolish actions with someone else.  She has returned in hopes of starting fresh.
Blair (B) - Very preppy rich chick!  She is pretty much the queen bee of the private school, and has some insecurities about her life (who doesn't?).
Dan (D) - Not really a rich boy, but attends the same private school as B & S.  For a while now, he has had his heart set on S, but isn't well known.  He kind of just blends in to the back, but gets his chance with S...but how will things go?
Nate (N) - Nate is from a wealthy family, but doesn't really know what he wants to do after high school.  Poor kid, he is so confused, but he knows that he doesn't want to go down the path that his parents want him to.
Jenny (J) - D's younger sister.  Such a naive little girl, but wanting to experience new things and make friends with the popular crowd.  Will this work out for her...or will they only set her up for failure?
Chuck (C) - Greasy and skeezy!!  This boy only cares about two things: Girls and money!  Despite his unappealing personality, he manages to get girls left and right.  Do they have no self-respect?  He must be paying them...shit, lord know he can afford it!

I have also decided to check out the book series to compare.  Characters have been changed, but it doesn't bother me a whole lot.  Anyway, if you like drama, betrayal, and love shows...you should check it out!

P.S.  I found this word in Gossip Girl: You Know You Love Me, and just had to share!

Penis man, noun:  An insensitive, arrogant, annoying jerk.  Usually, but not always, short and bald.  Think he's the studliest in the room.
Example:  Chuck Bass is a penis man!

Physical vs. Emotional Attraction

  • Sep. 30th, 2007 at 9:07 PM
Buh?
Okay, so in a forum that I am part of the topic of "Physical vs. Emotional Attraction" came up.  Now, I normally don't spend much time in these kinds of threads, since my opinion/comments get overlooked.  Anyway, I went through reading the comments, and most people were saying that they were attracted to people because of their physical appearance, more than emotional.  Now this really upset me.

Let me fill you in on some of my life.  All my childhood, I had been a relatively skinny bitch, and I could eat a lot and not gain weight.  All this changed in high school, when I got single out for the way I acted.  Despite my attempts to ignore the rude comments/jokes, eating became my vice and then I began to gain weight.  By the end of high school, I was overweight...not grotesquely, but still enough to hate my own reflection.

Seeing all these people saying they preferred looks over mind made me sad.  I am still overweight, and to know that looks are so "important" just makes me sad.  Almost to the point of getting a snack and chowing down...seriously.  I realize that looks will always be the first thing that is noticed...well, some aspect of the physical appearance...because you can't see someone's personality when you first see/meet them, you know?  If personality was the more important quality, I wouldn't be single...since so MANY people say that I am a kind-hearted, good person.  Of course, when I get told this, I can't help but think (or sometimes say), "Too bad it doesn't matter in today's society."  It just ticks me off that more people value looks so much.  Looks DON'T last forever, personality DOES.

Another thing I have seen/noticed, is that despite someone's appearance they will always try and go for someone who looks "better" than them.  I am sure that everyone has been put through the humiliation of getting rejected because of looks...yet, so many people continue to do so.  Why is that?  Can we not recall what it feels like to be turned down like that?  People are so frickin' picky and/or scared of what other might think.  I think everyone should stop being so superficial and accept people for how they are, cause the next person, who they turn down for some bullshit reason, may just give up on love, or maybe even life.

False Information

Ugh
As I was driving to a nearby town, I heard the radio announcer say that the next was "new from Timbaland, Apologize."  They then played the song.  Afterwards, something like "That was the newest from Timbaland featuring One Republic."  I normally wouldn't have any problems with this, but Timbaland isn't really in the song.  If anything it should be "One Republic featuring Timbaland," since it is their song, originally, and Timbaland merely made a slight remix of the backtrack.  I feel that One Republic isn't getting as much credit as they deserve, since they are a great band!

One Republic's Song:

Timbaland's Remix:

I think that the original is better.  Any opinions on this matter?

Introduction...and then some...

Busy
Howdy y'all.  Here be a fiesty latina diva known as Sylvia No.  Let me be the first to tell you that I am not to be trifled with.  I say what I want because I believe it has to be said, but I also try to do it in a very civilized sort of way, unlike an online behotch known as Chris Crocker.  Anywayz, that is not what I am going to talk about.  Let me fill you in a little bit more about me.  I am 22 years old, and some could say that I was born today, but I have so much knowledge and wisdom to share with everyone.  So, what brings me to this site?  Well, I am not really sure, just testing the waters and such.  So, hear me out, and if you don't like what I have to say, either a civilized response (this means no flaming) or just deal with it and move on, haters.

First topic of the night:  Friend-crush
I came across this particular set of words this evening when discussing with a friend, on the way to get some ice-cream.  I was driving my pimped out wagon when we noticed a cute lil asian girl walking.  My friend, Greg, totally blurted out that he has a "friend-crush" on her.  My mind was confused, so I inquired more about this.  He explained to sweet, innocent Sylvia that it is like a crush.  You know, when you are crushing on someone, you wish to date them.  Well, a friend crush pretty much just longing to be someone's friend.  That made sense, so now I totally have a friend-crush on Jonathan Rhys Meyers (that is just for you, Loni...you know who you are.)  However,Greg went on to say that they were pretty much friend, because due to some rule I don't know about, when you exchange greetings with someone, who is from a foreign country (like let's say...Asia), that automatically makes you and them friends.  Apparently greetings in Asian countries have that much of an affect.  I however think this rule does not apply...ANYWHERE...and you need to converse with the person more before declaring them your friend.

Topic numero ni (That would be number 2): Chat rooms
Do chat rooms really serve much of a purpose anymore?  I have been in my fair-share of chat rooms and as of recent, I have noticed one thing.  NO ONE TALKS!  They all talk through private messages, why not just add each other on instant messengers and leave the chat room.  The whole point of the chat room is TO CHAT.  Are we so secretive about our own lives that we don't want others reading our conversations?  If that is the case, don't even enter the chat rooms, and take up space.  Chat rooms are for chatting and socializing, if you don't do this, don't go into them.  Simple as that.

Well, that is all I have to say.  Catch ya all latas, my pet bunnies! ;)
